What Keeps Me Up at Night
Whenever I read other people’s blogs, I wonder what keeps them awake at night. In addition to my ten month old, here’s what keeps me up these days:
- How to streamline the process of enterprise legal compliance. That is, everyone knows that regulators all over the world are increasing pressure on business. I want to know how to make it cheaper, faster, and better
- How to automate it. If it’s worth streamlining, it’s worth trying to automate. I have an open source project that I started but haven’t done much with.
- To me, in most cases, when a company finds itself in some kind of dispute it’s because there was some kind of break down in the compliance process. It should be considered a process failure (most of the time). But when it does happen, how can we create an early case analysis process that’s more streamlined, repeatable, consistent, and cheaper?
While I’m at it, I might as well show my other hand too. I think that if I can solve the problems listed above that I’ll make a lot of progress toward fundamentally changing the way that the legal profession works. I know that’s both vague and bold, but I’ll just leave it there for now. For more about this, I suggest you read Richard Susskind.
