Nevertheless, I think it’s not a breach to tell you the guys did a great job, and you’re going to like it when it’s ready for general use.

Fortunately, Brady was listening because I got access to the beta version of it. My first reaction is that the API is rich, full featured, and seems to do most everything I think I want to do.

While the Brightkite API is powerful, my first application is not. My application uses the Brightkite API to integrate with Google Maps to show where people are. In short, it’s Mashups 101. Still, I wanted to start somewhere.

The next app I want to build is passive check in to add to Firefox. It wouldn’t locate you all the time, but if you’ve got a computer you don’t move around often (i.e., an office), it might solve 50% of the check in problems.
